Mother’s Day Pretties

7th May 2014, 04:16 PM Author: Sarah Osmotherly

Mother’s day is a few sleeps away, and the good news is, it doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. Recent survey shows, mums mainly want to feel appreciated and have quality time with family. Handmade crafts, breakfast in bed, personalised gifts or even an extra hug are the things that will get Mum a little bit misty on her special day…

As featured on the TODAY show, the gorgeous Ania from 2 Love Birds Sweet Design has created some pretty DIY printables to help make Mother’s Day even more special! The first one is a printable set that you can use with ‘breakfast in bed’ or make your mum a nice cup of tea and serve it with a few sweet treats. You can download these designs for FREE over www.2lovebirds.com.au

The other freebie is a fill-in newspaper that mum will cherish forever. Children get interviewed about their amazing mum, they can draw a nice picture as well as fill out “Quick Fun Facts” section. Also downloadable for free from 2 Love Birds.

Printables are so versatile, and they look even better if you get them printed onto thick card stock at Officeworks for just a few dollars. A big thanks to Officeworks for printing all the fab printables for the TODAY show set. The backdrop was printed there too, you can get great full coloured backdrops for just $40+, like the one featured on the inspiration board for the TODAY show thanks to 2 Love Birds Sweet Design. You can also design your own backdrops and send them to Officeworks to print. Their BO size print is 1000mm x 1414mm for $47.00. Considering the impact of what this can achieve, it is very reasonable.

I have also fallen in love with the super cute Mother’s Day range at Kikki-K including Mum’s sentence a day and the Mum’s memory book, love love!

Now for the food! Fill your mother’s heart with Love — Literally! Use A Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter to make a heart cutout on the top of a cupcake, and then fill it in with a little pink icing. Cupcakes are always sweet, but these little beauties are divine.

Another delicious treat is homemade marshmallow! And just whip out that little heart cutter again and you are going to be very popular indeed! Recipe found at TASTE.

And, if you just can’t get around to making anything, order a delicious cake like the beautiful ruffle cakes featured on the segment and below thanks to the very talented Erin Kelly from Erin Kelly’s Cakes.

I’m very grateful for wonderful Jess from Sugar Coated Mama  who set up until midnight for the segment with me, you are one stylin smokin mama Tucci! See her below here in all SCM glory – licking the icing of the spoon (or slicer!).

Also a big thanks to Robert Gordon Pottery for the beautiful cake stands, cupcake cases, pie flan, jug and loads of other goodies, just adore. I am selling Robert Gordon Cake Stands and other party items over on my Facebook page, so if you want some at great prices, click here for the album. Also wanted to thank Susie from Ruffle Me Tablecloths for the ruffle backdrop, Emma from Any Occasion Events for the chevron sequin table cloth, Jan from Sweet Violets Lindfield for the flowers, Nicole from Penny Lane Studio and Louisa from The Little Big Company for the breakfast tray, gumballs and lots more!
