Halloween… Yes, it’s a very American celebration (with Celtic heritage), potentially one of the weirdest events of the party calendar, but it just keeps getting bigger and bigger here in Australia and the kids go nuts over it! So this year I have donned my wizards hat, embraced what is set to be a very fun Halloween and am ready to Eat, Drink and be Scary! My party peeps over at Channel 9 TODAY show asked me to present some fun DIY ideas for y’all, so I decided to introduce a touch of ‘chic meets freak’ in a spooktacular range of Halloween ideas! The amazing Kara from Kara’s Party Ideas was a wonderful resource and inspiration for so many of my ideas and products, I’m so excited to be hosting her intensive workshops in Australia next year along with Confetti Fair. Check out all the details on www.sugarcoatedmama.com

I also had some amazing help to pull all this together, my gals Jodie from Get Frosted, Tui from Mad Midnite Baker, Meg’s from Meg’s Bliss Balls, Margaux from My Sweeties, Cheryl from Rosehip Flowers, Anne from Nice bit of Skirt, and of course Kara for being so awesome, thank you mamas….
Ide also like to thank Woolworths and Robert Gordon Pottery for your kind contribution, Emma from Any Occasion Events for your beautiful sequenced tablecloth (they are available in every colour and size), Amanda from Xs For Events for the magnificent birdcage and Mr Iceman for your cauldron and dry ice.
Hope you enjoy and Eat drink and be scary this Halloween!

PIMP MY PUMPKIN DIY

Chevron Pumpkin
Chevron is still trending hot at the moment, so thought a chevron pumpkin was just what we all needed. It’s quick, easy and my 11 year daughter did most of the work, yah!

What you need:
Pumpkin
Spray Paint
Masking Tape
Instructions
Grab your masking tape (or tape of choice) and make your chevron pattern. I just did this quickly and rough guess of size etc, but you could be far more meticulous if you wanted to be.
Then simply spray paint your pumpkin white. Leave to dry. Carefully peel tape off, and you’re done!

Stocking Pumpkin

These are so super hot and I love how easy they are. The patterns and textures can really add that detail and uber cool look to your Halloween table. Use some old stockings with ladder or small hole and you are recycling too!

What you need:
Pumpkin
Ladies black detailed stocking
Accent ribbons for the top
Spray paint – if desired

Instructions:
Cut the leg off the stocking (cut stocking away from the waist band)
Gather up the stocking like you are going to put them on and stretch over the pumpkin, centering the foot part at the bottom of the pumpkin.
Snip off the excess.

Use ribbon to accent the top of the pumpkin, like laces, different colours and textures, and you have one hot looking pumpkin! I even threw a mini witches hat on mine to make it look even better.
