Tutti Frutti Party
24th November 2014, 06:41 AMI love summer and pool parties and juicy fruit and yummy gelato, so creating a theme for my beautiful client Mira’s 8th birthday party was easy peasy – “TUTTI FRUTTI POOL PARTY”!!
Summer is one big smiling face, a season devoted to good times with people you love. This party takes me back to fun as a little girl and the excitement of swimming in the warm sun and squelching on watermelon and playing fun party games by the pool, just love it. Mira’s favourite fruit is pineapple, so this was the main fruit used across the party. From the real pineapples we used for the girls drinking cups to the pineapple gelato bowls through to pineapple cake pops, cupcakes, cushions, lollies and even mini pineapples on the cake topped off with a real pineapple head. It was a pineapple lovers paradise!
I also had fun creating this party with the fabulous Kate Ellis, who has been working with me for a few months now. With my pregnancy in full swing, Kate is going to be taking on many of my clients with her new business Sweet & Styled while I am busy with my new bubba. First things first – the colour palette. Party girl Mira loves bright colours, so working with Mira’s mum and Sarah from Style Me Gorgeous, we created a vibrant palette for the invites and printables that carried through to the whole party – pinks, orange, yellow and green. It’s such a happy colour combo and guests couldn’t help but smile when they walked into the party!

The main feature of any party I style is of course the dessert table, where all the yumminess resides! For this dessert table I wanted to really bring out the yellow of the pineapple and accent with pink and orange. Kate got to work painting the trestle table (which is a door from Bunnings) in a gorgeous bright yellow and then moved onto the trestle legs from Ikea in a pop of pretty pink for a yummy contrast. Sarah from Style Me Gorgeous created a simple yet perfectly summery backdrop to compliment the vibrant desserts and stunning cake by Get Frosted. I also wanted two big bright flower features with fruit as a base, so we used Granny Smith apples and brought all the colours out with the beautiful flowers and greenery we got from Belflora. I love how these popped on the table. I also love the pink striped runner down the middle of the table and the matching stripe balloons, both from Little Big Company.
We set up the drinks station on an old recycled table I found on the side of the road. With a spray of yellow paint, it was one of the my favourite pieces at the party. The pineapple shaped drink dispensers from Leo and Bella were pretty cute too!
Another favourite summer treat is Gelato, so we created a super fun poolside Gelato stand with bright honeycomb ball decorations and gelato served in real pineapples. A big thanks to Bits and Parties for the hire of the super cute Sweets Cart.
The girls were all seated on long white trestle tables and wooden chairs thanks to the Wedding Designers. Real mini pineapples were spray painted yellow with pink accents on the top and then used as the party girls cups, a real favourite!
